Long Time No See

Uh! It's been so long! Not that people are reading this, but it keeps me entertained and that's what matters, right? In my absence: I have turned 13, become an MJ addict, had a Johnny-Depp-Movie-Marathon on new year's eve, and... seen Sherlock Holmes (<3 more or less). Peace and Love!

The Closet

Tucked into the wall

With doors closed protectively

Two wooden guards defending.

Shielding,

a row of headless prisoners

marching to?

marching from?

They sag

and sway in agony.

pressed together

limp.

Some hang crookedly

warped

by

depression.

Oppression.

Captives

crucified

on a

clothes hanger.

RIPMJ

Or Rest In Peace Michael Jackson, if you prefer.  It's a very odd feeling.  I used to like Michael Jackson a couple years ago, but only in passing (before the 2 year Beatles stage).  When I got the News, I felt this incredible loss, and I didn't know why.  Sure he was cool when I was in 5th grade, but slowly, rumors happen, and, well, he just disappeared from my  life.  So I went on YouTube and watched a couple of old favorites (like Billie Jean and Beat It), engrossed by the way he orchestrates his audience, even through a screen.  Then I branched out, timidly, Smooth Criminal, Dirty Diana, Man in the Mirror.  I felt an obsession beginning, but I needed to know more.  The way he carries himself on stage and sings, angrily, or sadly, did not tell me what kind of a person he was.  Could the rumors be true?  Could he possibly have such a twisted mind?  So I watched an interview.   I'm good at reading characters, and a strong emotion hit me.  Innocence, childlike and simple.  I mean, I know that he is an oddball.  To the max.  But I felt like I knew him. He does not have it in his heart.  All the stuff about re-capturing child hood is true.  And the skin?  I decided according to what his friends say.  Besides the horrible skin-bleaching  disease that carries most of the blame, he was an artist.  He created an image of neither black nor white, not male or female.  All of that junk saying it's because he hates being a black man is absolutely  false.  Michael Jackson was a sweet and beautiful, if not lost or hurt, man.  If you don't believe me, watch one of the videos below, and watch him plead with the interviewer  with a tearful face  to release him from this night mare. He loves children.  He's great with children.  And I believe we can do his memory the best service by letting him know we love him and believe that he s completely innocent.  I love you, MJ King of Pop.

Up Review

Like so many Pixar movies I've seen lately (e.g. Wall-e, Monsters vs. Aliens,  Cars, Ratatoullie (sp?))  Up's previews made it seem like a light-hearted lark, swinging happily from one joke to the next.  However, once the movie started,  it was apparent that it was no such thing.  Full of unnecessary sadness, like depression, grief about aging, and losing loved ones, I felt let down once again by Pixar.  I mean, it had plenty of good jokes and characters, and the animation was superb, but I think Pixar felt it had to add substance and darkness into that happy world.  In an America where people go to the movies to escape, it amazes me that a movie peppered with such darkness made the money it did.  I admit that the movie had many wonderful qualities, like the talking dogs in their cones of shame (above) and squirrel mania, in fact it's probably my second-favorite Pixar movie (Next to Monsters Inc. :).  But I feel that Pixar could have done much more with it.
